Holiday Inn Express Guanajuato by IHG

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. The indoor pool was nicely heated, and there’s even a small church at the back. The breakfast buffet offered a good range of food, fruit, and drinks. We also liked the old-style decorations. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and both elevators were working. My seven-year-old thought the view was pretty cool.

I spent nine days at this Holiday inn Express and loved the atmosphere. People always greeted me with a smile, and the front desk was very helpful. The buffet team were great too, and if they had what you wanted in the kitchen, they’d make it with a smile and no hesitation. The first-floor cleaning lady was super nice, and the security staff were as well. The place is clean and nice, the food is delicious, and the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. I really recommend it.

Be careful with scams. Our group booked online through the IHG page, but they didn’t honor the reservation and charged us almost 10,000 pesos more. The hotel is old, with dated wallpaper and decor, only one very slow elevator, and poor hygiene. I found a folded towel that had bloody toothpaste on it when I dried my face. It was disgusting. Breakfast was low quality. I only had boiled eggs and toast. The hotel is well outside beautiful downtown, and I regret not choosing one of the small hotels there. I was worried about getting scammed, and still got scammed at a holiday inn. I don’t recommend staying here. Take your money elsewhere.

My husband and I planned to stay just one night, but liked it enough to add another. The rooms are very spacious and clean throughout, although the hotel feels a little outdated, especially the bathrooms. When something went wrong in our room, someone came right away or they moved us to another room. The front desk team was great. Raul from maintenance was charming and helpful in every way, and the staff really went above and beyond to make our stay good. We’re very happy with the visit and would stay here again if we return to Guanajuato.
