The place is somewhat nice, but only a little. Service was terrible: they never brought the towels and water we needed in our room. We also had to wait about two hours for the room, which was really annoying after booking two weeks ahead.

Check carefully that you'll get the room they promised. On my first trip to Mazatlán, we stayed in the penthouse. The second time, I paid more for that same room, but got an ugly one on a different floor.

The room was generally fine, and reception service was just average. The hotel itself feels very neglected. These are timeshares inside a hotel.

Bel Air Boutique and Park Royal are the same. The staff were friendly and clearly tried to provide excellent service, even though they were understaffed and dealing with lots of complaints. But the facilities are terrible and very run down. Only two of the three very old elevators worked, which meant excessive waits. The pool was filthy, and its filtration system kept failing all week. Getting towels was hard, too. They just kept saying they were out. The beach was very dirty with debris, and there was only a small area by the sea with lounge chairs and umbrellas. Those were dirty and torn. I'd never go back.
