Hotel Machado

The location is very central, with a pleasant view of Plaza Machado and clean hallways, but carnival season made getting in and out a hassle. The surrounding streets were fenced off, and they charged $70 to enter. You'll have to pay each time you want to get back in, so staying right in the center isn't such a good idea then. It's a small, older place with no elevator. The rooms have AC and a TV with a few channels. When I booked, they advertised a quick breakfast of bread and coffee, but we didn't get any during our four-day stay. The room was dusty, and the blankets seemed like they hadn't been used in a long time. The microwave worked, but the plugged-in mini-fridge didn't. The electric shower never worked either, so it was cold water every day. At reception, they just handed us the keys. No one was there to answer questions or make suggestions. The building has a shared roof, so we could hear laughter, conversations, and other noise from neighboring rooms.

My first visit to Mazatlán went really well, and the hotel's location was a big part of that. Hotel Machado is in a lovely area with great restaurants and a wonderful view, and Olas Altas, one of the quietest and prettiest beaches in Mazatlán, is just a five-minute walk away. The place itself is beautiful and comfortable, with very cordial, attentive, friendly staff. I felt at ease there and would definitely recommend it.

The owners were welcoming as soon as we arrived and quick to help. We asked for an extra bed on our last day, and they arranged it right away. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it had the essentials: TV, mini-fridge, microwave, wardrobe, and a table. The hotel keeps its vintage decor. It's in the historic center, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and museums, and only a couple of blocks from the boardwalk. A relaxed trip is what this place suits best.

Everything is close by, including museums, pharmacies, the market, shops, and public transportation. Plaza Machado can get crowded sometimes, but the hotel itself is comfortable and well located. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, so I'd definitely stay again. Thank you!
