Hotel Quijote Inn

The rooms are large, though aged, and good enough for sleeping. The location is great, but for what they charged I expected something much more luxurious and resort-like. I’d come back for 1000 pesos, but not at their price, especially with other places likely offering more amenities. There are two small hot tubs, no gym, and few amenities. Drinks are cheap but the selection is limited. The weekend breakfast buffet was decent. Wi-Fi was unusable. The pool wasn’t open 24/7, which was a bummer, and we were told not to drink the water. The AC leaked all over the table and our electronics. The toilet kept running unless you jiggled the handle, and the shower went cold after 15 minutes each day. None of the outdoor outlets worked. Smoke detectors were hanging from the ceiling with tape, and some random tiles had fallen off the wall onto the floor before we checked in. It could take 20+ minutes to order and pay for drinks, and sometimes they didn’t even show up when we ordered from the hot tub. The staff were all pleasant and nice.

We were there just under 2 weeks, and the staff were all so friendly. Our room was nice and had a great ocean view. The pool was very cold, which was my only complaint. I’d stay again. 😊

I’ve been coming to Hotel Quijote for 33 years. They’ve renovated the exterior, pool area, and restaurant, but the place has mostly stayed the same. The beach backs right onto the pool area, and I don’t think you’ll find a better hotel price this close to the beach in Mazatlan. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Many have been there a long time and take pride in their work. I’d suggest a room on an upper floor to avoid bugs or geckos getting in, though that’s pretty normal for any ground-floor hotel room here. Leave housekeeping 20-50 pesos a day on the table by your room’s front door. You’ll thank me!

The location, parking area, and hotel staff were all great. The rooms were the problem. The beds were so hard that we woke up stiff and sore every morning, and the dresser drawers kept falling out. Outside lights shone straight into the window all night, with no blackout curtains. They advertised free Wi-Fi, but it was only available at the pool, and it was so slow I couldn’t even sign in on my phone. Don’t stay here expecting Wi-Fi.
