Sleep Inn Mazatlan

We like to get an early start because we have long drives ahead, but breakfast doesn't begin until 7. It would help if they put out hot coffee and some toast, bread, or muffins by 6. We've stayed here twice during our travels and both times the coffee downstairs was cold, with nothing available in the room. There's a coffee maker, but no coffee or cups, and no glasses for a drink either. The rooms are small, but that's okay.

There's no beach in sight, and construction surrounds the place. At least some shops, a bank, and a really good taco restaurant are close by. Breakfast was okay, though it could be better. The room was clean and the bed somewhat comfortable, but it felt too enclosed for someone like me with mild claustrophobia. The TV was tiny. You get what you pay for.

The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was old and dated, with stained, worn towels and no tile on the wall around the sink. Water from the shower sprayed over the glass and onto the ceiling, wall, floor, and toilet. Breakfast starting at 7 is a little late if you're an early riser heading out on the road.

It's a decent place to rest, and the staff are really nice, but bring your own towels. We left the do not disturb sign up and they ignored it, taking our towels without replacing them. When we called, they brought just ONE towel for three people. Breakfast wasn't good either. There's a shopping center close by, but you'll need to drive to el malecon. The one-cup coffeemaker looks toward the construction site, which is noticeable during the day, though things are quiet at night.
