My comments below reflect a 2019 stay, so check the dates on newer reviews. I haven't returned to Mexico City in over two years, and management may have changed shortly before my last visit. The place has an interesting religious feel, and it’s a good fit if you want to meet people. It’s near Monumento a la Revolución, with weekly Society of Friends meetings, yoga, and daily social breakfasts for a small fee. Keep in mind this works by request, rather than a hotel reservation. There was daytime demolition behind the building at the time, so bring earplugs if you need to rest then, along with some goodwill toward others.

Casa de los amigos left me with a memorable experience when I stayed in 2017. It’s an easy place to meet people from all kinds of backgrounds, and I felt cozy there. Breakfast, a library, and a public computer were among the accommodations. If you’re passing through Mexico city or want to get to know new people, Casa is a good place to go.

There’s loads of room, including plenty of space for motorcycles, and the staff are friendly. We’ve tried a few hostels in the city, and so far this is the nicest one at a decent price, around 250 pesos.
