The staff were nice, but the whole experience at Hotel MX mas reforma CDMX, Trademark Collection by Wyndham was horrible. I chose it based on the listed amenities, including early check-in and a mini microfridge. I arrived at 11 and couldn’t check in early, so I also couldn’t put my passport in the safe. I was anxious about losing it while trying to fill time until I could get into my room. There was no fridge in the room, and the front desk told me none of the rooms had one, which was a big letdown after seeing it advertised on the hotel’s page. I also think I was overcharged, but the language barrier made it hard to dispute what I should have paid. I raised the issue with Wyndham to give them a chance to make it right and got a formal apology. They also brought up that I’d offered the front desk cash to get access to my room on arrival, as if that were a problem. Other people accepted propinas there. They said I wasn’t a high enough level member to get early check-in, though the website didn’t say you had to be a certain level. I asked for some money back and the request wasn’t acknowledged. Terrible accountability and service recovery. What am I meant to do with an apology?

The noise made this a miserable stay, and it was a terrible way to finish an otherwise great trip to Mexico. After the first awful night, we told reception the window wouldn't close all the way. She said someone would check it, but there was no update when we came back that evening. Someone had clearly been in the room, and the window was even worse, letting in more noise. Reception initially refused to move us, then eventually found another room with no windows or natural light. We hoped for some quiet, but people were shouting by the coffee machine one floor up at 4 in the morning, and that room was noisy too. Nobody apologized or asked how our stay was. It felt like no one cared. Breakfast is served outside, which is good to know when it's 4 degrees in the morning. I can't understand the good reviews and feel badly misled.

The staff, especially the breakfast team, were warm and attentive, and the breakfast was a nice start to the day: eggs, meat, beans, salsa, fruit, and yogurt. We could walk to the Zocalo, the anthropology museum, and restaurants in Roma Norte. Still, I really didn't enjoy the stay. We paid for a balcony expecting a view, but it looked into an alley where the building across from us was being constructed. Sitting outside meant listening to work and being awkwardly close to construction workers. Noise was the bigger problem. The hotel is on busy Av. Reforma, so traffic, motorcycles, and sirens are to be expected, though other places may have better soundproofing. Our room was on the fourth floor by the open-air terrace, and music from the nightclub next door went on until 3 or 4 a.m. Breakfast setup began around 6:30, with pans, dishes, and people eating right there too. We barely slept during our three nights. Those rooms need some way to cut down the noise. We were also given just two small water bottles a day, so we kept buying disposable ones. It would help if guests could refill bottles with filtered water.

The nightclub downstairs played bass so loudly that it seemed to shake the whole room. I got basically no sleep for either of my two nights because of that constant thumping. I can't believe a hotel can be like this, and I won't stay here again. I plan to contact my credit card company to ask for a refund. The reviews are misleading, and I truly don't understand how the place has as many stars as it does. I can only assume they somehow remove the bad ones.

I booked the terrace suite and had a view of paseo reforma. The hotel is small, with a boutique feel, and worked perfectly for a business trip. I could print documents for my meetings, and its central spot on Reforma made it a very convenient place to stay.
