Hotel Universal

I’ll book here again on my next trip. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed, hot showers, and a large flat-screen LG TV. It felt like a three- or four-star hotel, and the place seemed secure. The manager even spoke to me in English when I arrived. This hotel is underrated.

The staff were really nice, and they did a good job cleaning the room. It was a decent deal, and they had all the basics, though I wish there were more electrical outlets. The room itself was okay, and the parking area seemed fine, with someone watching it from reception. I found the area a little scary, especially with that big hole at the reception. The door could use a stronger lock for a place that feels like this. It’s an okay place.

They do laundry cheaply, and they even let me keep my drinks in their refrigerator. The people were very helpful. The gentleman who owns the hotel speaks English and also runs the taco stand next door. The place could be cleaner, but there’s a lot of work and only a couple of people on staff, so I offered to clean my own room.

It’s cheap, and there’s free parking and a TV, but I wouldn’t stay longer than a few hours without thinking twice. The rooms have a revolting smell, somewhere between cigars and cheap cleaning products. It’s really noisy and very dated. The staff looked at us through a glass partition and treated us like cattle. This feels like a place for couples to be alone for a few hours.
