Gran Hotel Villa de Madrid

The room felt really nice, and the staff were really nice too. But the bedsheet had a cigarette burn, and you’ll smell cigarette smoke from other rooms unless you close the windows. I hope you don’t take offense at my review, since I may need to stay there for an extended time. I showered at 4 a.m., and the water was extremely cold from one handle, while the other wasn’t cold enough to shower with.

I chose this hotel to visit the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe, and the location is perfect for that. You can walk to the basilica, and there are several restaurants nearby. We ordered food from local places. I’m not sure whether the hotel has a restaurant, but there’s a VIP across the street. The building is huge and a little dated, with different styles, sort of art deco. I liked the seating area by the elevators on the third floor, though the place needs more light and some remodeling. The rooms are huge but not very comfortable.

The street is very loud, and it’s not a nice neighborhood. The rooms are old, and even though it’s supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, the sheets smelled like cigarettes. We didn’t get any hot water. No one on staff speaks English. This is definitely not a four-star hotel. Compared with the USA or Europe, it would be a shady motel.

The price was great, and the customer service went above and beyond. Everyone was so helpful and made me feel at home. The rooms were excellent and very clean. Great stay, and I’ll recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.
