Hotel Metropol

The hotel itself was fine, with a decent restaurant and a handy spot near downtown and the main sights. Some staff speak English. My first room was facing the street, though, and the loud music and noisy neighbors kept going until midnight. Luckily, they moved me to a quieter room the next day.

The staff were kind and patient with my broken Spanish, and I had hot water at both the sink and shower. I also used the bathroom tap marked Drinking water and had no health problems. I stayed seven nights in mid-November 2025, on my first trip to CDMX, and both leaving my suitcase before check-in and collecting it after checkout were easy. My third-floor room faced Luis Moya street, so it was noisy late at night and I struggled to fall asleep a couple of times. There’s no air conditioning, and on chilly nights I relied on extra clothes and the spare blanket in the closet. Breakfast at La Goleta, the restaurant inside the hotel, was always good, as was the spaghetti alfredo I had for dinner one night. The location works well for Centro, close to Zocalo. Juarez and Bellas Artes metro stations are both about a five-minute walk away. The gym needs a separate key, so you have to ask reception for it each time you want to go.

The concierges were friendly and a big help, especially Jesus Návaro, who let us leave our bags. We had a very comfortable stay.

At 1,200mxn per night, I wouldn’t recommend it. The room was tiny, there was no AC, the pillows felt like sheets, and the bed was really hard.
