Hotel Kavia Monterrey

The location made it easy to walk to Macroplaza, Barrio Antiguo, shops, and places to eat. The rooms were spacious and clean, and I felt it was worth the price. I didn't eat at the restaurant, though it looked nice. One caution: the first-floor corner by the restaurant is next to a very loud outdoor bar, with music going until 1 or 2 a.m., so light sleepers should avoid that spot. The pillows were tiny, and when I asked for two more, they said no.

At Hotel Kavia, the rooms and bathrooms were clean and modern. The way guests enter through the parking lot makes the stay feel oddly disconnected. You come in through a pretty uninspiring lot, take the elevator to your floor, and after checking in you never see the lobby or other guests or employees again.

The lobby was really hot, with no AC, and my room had no windows and smelled moldy. The location was horrible too. Please avoid this place.

The lobby and restaurant have lonely views, and the hotel was clean. But waking up in a windowless, dark room without knowing whether it's day or night felt disturbing. Bring your own pillows.
