Casa Roa

The place itself was beautiful and in a great location, but it was Isabella and her daughter Ava who made our stay at Casa Roa unforgettable. They were humble, thoughtful, kind, and so helpful. They went above and beyond for our bachelor party, and we couldn’t be more grateful. The trip left us with great memories, lots of laughs, and new friendships, including with our hostesses. I’ll never forget it. I’d give them 10 stars if I could. Before we even arrived, Isabella was prompt with answers to all my questions and helped get everything ready. When you book an Airbnb in another state or country, you wonder if the reviews are accurate and whether the hosts will be nice. From the moment we got there, this was hands down the best Airbnb experience we’ve ever had. If you’re heading to Mexico City, do yourself a favor and check out Casa Roa. You won’t be disappointed. We had such a good time that we might come back every year, both to see our group and to spend time with our new friends, or our New Mexican Mom. YOU GUYS ROCK! :)

The garden is beautiful, with plenty of comfortable chairs and spots to relax. Casa Roa is a huge house, and we had everything we needed, plus lots of electrical outlets for our group of 11 to charge our two or three devices each. The Wi-Fi worked well upstairs and downstairs, the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms had everything, including consistently hot water. We had no problems anywhere in the house. Isabel and Eva were wonderful hosts. They made us delicious, authentic meals, served great coffee, and offered useful suggestions and information about food and tourist sites. The house felt safe and secure. We were comfortable walking to nearby restaurants and grocery stores, either together or on our own, and there was always police patrol in the neighborhood. We stayed with a group of friends at the end of March 2019, and the place had all we needed and more. I’d definitely stay at Casa Roa again and recommend it to anyone visiting Mexico City. Just outside CDMX, Satelite has this little-known place with a calm, quiet neighborhood and very personal service. Sofia and Isabel are excellent hosts who pay attention to details and go out of their way to help make your time in Mexico safe and successful. They can also offer guidance and information for travel elsewhere in the country. Highly recommend it!

Nightmare! We stayed at Casa Roa for several months starting in January 2016. At first, there were only occasional problems, including unexplained hostility from Sofia, the manager. She eventually rage-quit, then refused to leave after we found a friend willing to take over her duties. Things went downhill from there. Following a brief dispute with a hospital they had recommended, Casa Roa abruptly told us to move, well before our prepaid stay ended. We lost thousands of dollars in prepaid rent. They threatened us, and on several occasions we heard loud screaming and arguments from several houses away. We then found out they had used highly toxic fertilizer in the garden, despite promising not to. After half the garden was dug up and our dog played in the mud, the dog became inexplicably ill. We believe the fertilizer caused it. Things got so bad we felt we had to lock the doors and windows in case they tried something criminal. After a day, we decided to flee and left many of our belongings behind. We’re suing Casa Roa for damages and to get our money back. Through its owner Isabel Martinez Diaz, Casa Roa responded with a bunch of smiley faces, as if to mock us further. And yes, that’s the same Isabel Martinez who gave Casa Roa a five-star review calling it “like home,” which of course makes sense since she owns the place. For your own health and safety, please stay away.
