Dinner was the worst part of our stay. The food was terrible and wildly overpriced, and when we tried to talk to management, no manager was available. The front desk employee couldn't follow what we were saying and brought over two more staff members to work it out. She even asked what we thought the restaurant should do. I was hoping they'd offer at least a partial refund for some of the meal. They started talking about us coming back to eat there, but I told them there was no chance. The customer service was unbelievable. The room was just okay and needed a much better clean. The pillows were gross, bugs were in the shower, and there was an opened coffee bag. The hot tub wasn't hot either. It rained while we were there, which didn't help, but that wasn't the main problem. The place was dated and didn't feel like the beautiful hotel in the online photos. This absolutely isn't a five-star hotel, and even four stars feels generous. Although the hotel was nearly empty, we were put next to loud guests. Staff were on their phones, and the front desk team had trouble communicating in English. The person who checked us in didn't explain anything about our stay. We booked one night to relax on the way south and wouldn't stay again. There's a lot to fix with cleanliness, communication, professionalism, and service. I wish I'd read the reviews first. With this many one-star ratings, believe them.

I got a large, nicely furnished room with a view of the beautiful grounds and the Sea of Cortez, and the off-season price was a great deal. I haven't booked in-season, so I can't say how it compares. I tried both restaurants on site and was disappointed with the food and service at each.

Dinner was the bright spot: the food was delicious, though the menu and staffing had frequent shortages. Most of the other staff, including housekeeping and the front desk, were generally good and seemed to be doing their best with limited resources and constraints from management. The bellman was the exception. When we arrived, he started out cheerful, then, without any warning or reason, told our family we'd "go to jail if we were loud after 10 PM." His directions about using a mini-fridge made no sense since we already had one in our room. Later, he got visibly upset and threw the tip back at me and two family members. We avoided him after that unsettling, unprofessional encounter. The basic supplies and upkeep were a constant problem during our week-long vacation. Our room was dirty when we arrived, the floor wasn't cleaned during the week, and a dirty coffee cup left on the second day was never taken away or replaced. Towels had holes and were so thin you could see through them; there were no hand towels or washcloths. When we asked for one extra bath towel, the housekeeper had to make three calls to get permission. We asked twice for toiletries and got conditioner but no shampoo, and had to request a bar of soap. We had an ironing board but no iron, and after asking three times we gave up. When we asked for a blanket, staff first said no one could bring it up. I offered to get it from the lobby, but then they said no one had the supply-room key and promised it the next morning. It finally arrived on day three. Twice that week the hotel ran out of clean pool towels. The store was never open while we were there, and there was no food or drink service at the beach. Even with the hotel's great location in Nopolo, BCS, these repeated failures and the difficulty getting basic items like an iron, soap, and clean towels made the stay disappointing. We can't recommend it. Management needs to improve how things are run so the otherwise helpful staff can do their jobs.

The location is amazing, and the rooms are a nice size with big, comfortable beds and spacious showers. But the place could be cleaner, the water never got hot, and the hot tub was cold. We asked the bar for ice and found black stuff all over it. We stayed in two rooms: neither had cockroaches. One had a smart TV and the other didn't, one had three pillows and the other four. The beds had sheets only, though there were blankets in the closet.

The beach didn't have white sand or clear water for swimming, and the pool was dirty and didn't seem to be maintained. Our first room's air conditioner didn't work, and the balcony door had no lock. Maintenance didn't show up or move us at first. We called the front office again the next day, waited about 40 minutes, and then maintenance came and suggested a room change. The Catco restaurant was especially disappointing. Its website says it opens at 7, but food wasn't ready until 8 a.m. The waiters didn't greet or smile at customers, and the food was below average. Breakfast wasn't American style: you could only go through the line once, with a server putting food on your plate, and they tried to charge if you went back. Tamarind was the only juice. There were no bananas, oranges, or bagels. It was the same beans and chips, cheap wiener sausage, and omelet every day, with no fried or boiled eggs. The waiters didn't offer coffee refills and were busy on their phones, drinking coffee, or chatting instead of serving guests. The pillowcases, sheets, and towels weren't clean. Even after washing, some were stained and smelled stale, and some dirty pillows had no cases.
