Hotel OaxaCalli

This was the worst experience of my life. I was there for a couple of days and got bitten by bed bugs in the bed. The cleanliness and service both left a lot to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

The people are very nice, and the place is clean, but several things need attention. There’s no air conditioning, so the rooms get very humid. The hot water had problems, and there was no TV signal. It’s passable if you’re only staying one night, heading somewhere else, or short on money.

We were there with a group from Feb 18 through 25, 2020. For two people sharing two beds, we paid about $32 USD a night, much less than prices reported here. The bright rooms upstairs are great, while the ones at the north end are very dark and have a hum from the pipes or laundry. It was clean, the water was hot, the mattresses were hard, and the staff were very nice. Several of us switched rooms for different reasons, and the staff were helpful about it. The real problem was the noise. They seemed to allow seriously loud parties from about 2 to 4 a.m. I’d stay somewhere with a door that locks at night.

We had a lovely time eating on the terrace. The staff were helpful and kind, and even arranged a cab to the airport. The place was quiet and cozy, with a great view and an excellent location. It was very clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable, the fan was powerful, and the hot water was nice. The TV was small, but that was fine.
