That was the worst massage I’ve ever had. I had to prepay for a one hour deep tissue session, but what I got felt like an hour of light petting, as if lotion were being applied. I asked her to work on my neck and shoulder tension with a deep massage, not to press on my bones. Instead she kept pressing on me repeatedly, and never used massage movements on the muscle tissue. Her Apple Watch rang several times during the treatment. She’d pause, say “AHHH,” and look at her phone. Why let your phone ring while treating clients? If you want painful pressure on your skeletal bones from someone who seems to have no idea how to massage, this is the place. I wasn’t a hotel guest, but I heard a door slam during the massage. Stay away, don’t get a massage here. A waste of time and money.

The rooms are spacious and have great amenities, but the bed was lumpy in places and really uncomfortable. I didn’t get a good night’s sleep once, and the road and building are very loud, so bring earplugs. The staff were lovely, welcoming, and friendly, and their English was great, which helped since my Spanish isn’t very good. The downstairs bar served one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Highly recommend it, and it’s a good place to meet people. A charming hostel right in the heart of Oaxaca!

We stayed in a private room at Selena and thought it was great value for a hostel. The location was perfect, and the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I’d read the noise reviews, so I brought earplugs and slept well. It was a lovely stay.

The room was spacious and had a good shower, and we stayed for 3 nights. The location is right in the city centre. There’s a cafe and restaurant in the building, plus yoga for just £6 per session. I really enjoyed the yoga, even though the class was taught in Spanish 🤭.
