Moises was incredibly kind and respectful. He helped us sort out transport, shopping, and day trips, and really went above and beyond. We were two women in our early 30s and felt safe at the gated property, as well as around the neighborhood. We often walked back at night without any problems. The room was basic but spacious, and fresh towels were provided at no cost. There’s a large shared kitchen, and the location worked well for us, about a 15 to 20 minute walk from most places. Oaxaca is lovely to explore on foot. We had a great stay and would come back. Thank you, Moises!

For me, Oaxaca is easy to get around on foot, and I liked being about 10 minutes from the big supermarket and 15 from the main road. The location is honestly not bad, and I felt quite safe walking home alone at night. It’s a quiet spot, with a major road behind it where you can catch city buses, colectivos, or other companies to MXCD and Puebla. Those options cost less than ADO, which is on the other side of town. There are small, good, cheap tacos on the Periferico, just a five minute walk away, and the huge market is a little farther. The place is small, clean, quiet, and super cheap. I noticed those things missing in many hostels around the city when I was looking for somewhere to stay for the party night on 31st October. The laundry service is fast, good, and inexpensive. There’s free coffee, and a small terrace that gets nice morning sun. Moises was amazing both times I stayed. He was available, helpful, and friendly, with lots of good advice about prices, room options, and things to do. He let me leave my huge bag for a few days, which turned into months. I can’t thank him enough. I stayed in two dorms, and when my friend was sick, he gave us the whole room so we could rest and have the bathroom close by. One room had a small, well-equipped kitchen, water, and a table outside it. The other larger dorm had its kitchen and living room within the dorm itself. I met considerate, nice people, so it wasn’t a big issue, but if someone cooks onions at 9am, everyone else in bed will smell them. The beds are simple and light, so they might move around or make noise, but mine was fine. I didn’t mind being on the top or bottom bunk, though there are no curtains. The power outlets aren’t next to the beds, which could be inconvenient for some. Towels and soap are free.

I slept really comfortably here, and the beds were very clean. There’s a kitchen, three adorable kittens, and the owner is especially kind and warm-hearted. They helped me a lot. The hostel is also near a local market, handy for picking up supplies and getting a feel for local life. I stayed six days and hated to leave. If I return to Oaxaca, I’ll stay here again without hesitation.

We had a great host in Moises. From the start he made us feel welcome, arranged taxis when needed, and shared local suggestions. We also appreciated the quiet outdoor area, and I’d stay here again on another trip to Oaxaca. Try the frozen yogurt or ice lollies, they’re amazing! We were here during Dia de Muertos as a group of three, and a booking complication meant we technically had no room. Moises managed to make it work despite how exceptionally busy it was. We ended up in a different room each night, so we saw several accommodation options. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the coffee maker was great, but the rooms and facilities could have been cleaner and in better working order. I imagine the busy weekend and our situation were part of it. The walk to the centre took about 15 minutes and didn’t bother us. It gave us a chance to find cafes, bars, and restaurants we might not otherwise have seen. I can imagine that walk feeling intimidating for someone traveling alone.

The place was affordable and had a good kitchen with everything we needed. I enjoyed my stay, and the host was helpful throughout, going well out of their way for us.
