Posada Nacha`n Ka`an

The dorm got hot without air conditioning, and there are very few facilities. Staff were quite rude about letting me remain in the common areas after checkout, even though it was only an hour and a half later. They told me to leave and didn't really want to hold my luggage until I insisted. That's unusual for a hostel, and not very traveller friendly if you can't catch a bus before checkout. Jungle palace is a better option for less money, with a private room instead of a dorm.

We paid 350 pesos for an AC room, which seemed fair for this area. Across the street there's a worn-out fan room for 150. The place was very clean and had a really good shower head. Staff were just OK, neither especially friendly nor unpleasant. It's one block from lots of combis going different places. The area may be unsafe at night, so they lock the front gate.

The owner was amazing and speaks excellent English. The room had great ventilation, which I hadn't found at other hotels, plus very good WiFi, hot water, and a fan. Everything was very clean and tidy, including the bedding, and the location was good. Highly recommend.

The private double room was clean and had a decent bed, and the stay turned out better than I expected. If you booked a fan room, AC costs 100 pesos extra. They just hand over the remote, so it's an easy upgrade when it's hot.
