Our unit, #1, was filthy, especially the walls. There were fleas, the towels and bedding were stained, the counters were dirty, and the room smelled moldy. We found fleas on the bedding when we got back at the end of the day and left for a real hotel. The owner never responded to Expedia, so we had to pay for another hotel. It seems the property owner is refusing to refund us, and I may have to ask my credit card company to reverse the charges. There was loud music nearby as well, which made it harder to rest. This place is also listed as Ahau apartment on some sites. Stay away.

I booked through a travel site, then got a message via Expedia claiming there was a problem with my payment method and that I had 24 hours to call and update it. That turned out to be a lie: one of their third-party listings had the wrong price, and they didn't want to honor it, so they made up a payment excuse to cancel my reservation. When I called, reception first acted like they couldn't speak English. Once I explained the issue in Spanish, they described what had happened in perfect English.

Our flight was delayed, so although we'd booked two nights, we didn't reach the hotel until 3:00 am. Nobody was there to let us in, and there was no way to contact anyone. We couldn't get to our room until 10:00 am. The room was filthy and we felt uncomfortable staying there. The next day I developed a rash on my arms and legs. Stay away from this dirty hotel.

It's handy to be close to 5th, a great supermarket and the beach, but I'd only recommend staying a few days. The apartment was okay, though communication in English was difficult. The bathroom was the worst part: weak water pressure and a smelly drain.

A lovely, clean, newly built apartment with everything I needed. The kitchen was especially well equipped. Highly recommend it.
