AKBAL Playa - Beach Zone

Mamitas Beach is close by, about five blocks away on the map. There’s a Six across the street, an Oxxo around the corner, and Chedraui Selecto is roughly ten minutes away or less. A cheaper supermarket next door saves you the walk if you need it. The place fits four comfortably, with a table and four chairs, a bar, induction cooktop, basic utensils, microwave, and an old mini-fridge that still works. The bathroom shower doesn’t work, so you have to ask for a bucket to bathe. For the price, you can’t expect much.

We booked three nights and left very disappointed. The room was dirty, with filthy sheets and towels, a shaky double bed, and the worst-smelling bathroom I’ve ever seen or smelled. The sign on the front door said reception opened at 10:00, but nobody was there, leaving us stuck with our equipment. When I asked to cancel and get a refund, the man at the hotel was rude and wouldn’t let me speak with the manager. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. We stayed elsewhere in Playa for less and got much more for our money.

Jesus was excellent, with a great attitude and helpful service. The facilities were another story: the furniture was broken, dirty, in terrible condition, and nothing like the photos. The state of the place really left me feeling ripped off.
