All Riviera Resort

We only decided to leave a review after coming back to our room past 9pm, following a whole day out, and finding the door unlocked. The maid had left without locking it. Since the room could be reached from the beach and streets, we immediately checked our belongings and passports. Very disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The photos are misleading. Inside, the walls were filthy, the TV box hung from the cords powering it, and the bed felt like a rock. The sheets had holes, and only the bottom dresser drawer opened. The safe couldn’t be locked so that someone else was unable to open it, and the sink wasn’t attached to the counter. There were ants in the bathroom and mold on the shower hinges, in its corners, on the bathroom window, and on a wall. The shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, had barely any water pressure, and its door kept swinging open instead of closing. Walking barefoot on the wood floors felt greasy and slippery.

For me, the best part of Hotel All Riviera is its spot right by the beach, with La Quinta Avenida only steps away. You can catch beautiful sunrises over the ocean, and the ADO bus station and ferry terminal are close by, which makes getting around convenient. The property looks neglected, though. The decor is dated and the facilities seem to lack upkeep or investment, so it feels more like budget lodging than you might expect for the price. Playa del Carmen has other hotels that offer better value, with more modern amenities and attention to detail. If you care more about an affordable beachfront location and convenience than comfort or luxury, it could still be a reasonable choice.

We picked it because it’s just a five-minute walk to the ferry station, three minutes from the ADO bus terminal, and only a few steps from the beach. The room had AC, which was a plus, but there wasn’t enough bedding and what we did get was very worn. The photos on Expedia make the hotel look great. The man at reception wasn’t very nice, though the housekeeper was.

The location is great, right on the beach, and the staff were wonderful. Still, we booked 10 nights and stayed just one. The place is really run down and dirty, with holes in the walls, peeling paint, and garbage around. The beds were so hard it felt like sleeping on the floor, and the towels felt like sandpaper. A little painting, cleaning, and maintenance could make this hotel great.
