Such a friendly host, and the apartment was really clean and peaceful!

For New Year’s Eve, this was a good-value alternative to the expensive hotels. The rooms have the essentials, there’s a shared kitchen with a refrigerator, and you can rent bicycles here. The public beach is a 10-minute walk away. It’s in a residential neighborhood away from the center, around 45 minutes on foot or 15 minutes by public bus. Buses run every five minutes and cost 10 pesos per person each way. The main drawback was noise: dogs, chickens, and the front door could all be heard because the rooms are poorly soundproofed. We arrived earlier than planned after a last-minute change, and Rodrigo kindly offered us his spare room. It was very sparsely furnished and had lizards visit, but we appreciated the help.

Rodrigo’s kindness really stayed with us. He’s warm, helpful, attentive, and makes guests feel at home. The place is carefully decorated with plants and has a welcoming atmosphere. We definitely recommend it as a pleasant stay, despite the interrupted sleep. There was a lot of noise from dogs in the neighborhood, roosters, cars, the garbage truck, and guests who got up early. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, getting rest may be difficult. The rooms themselves were clean, though I found the bed a bit hard. Guests share a kitchen and can use the refrigerator, and cold water, coffee, and tea are available. We chose the accommodation without knowing Playa del Carmen or how far away it was. It’s in a local neighborhood, about a 45-minute walk or 15-minute bus ride from the center, which didn’t bother us.

Rodrigo is a lovely owner, attentive and helpful, and keeps his house and rooms in great condition. I’d recommend it for a quiet, relaxing stay. The beaches are three blocks away, and there are grocery stores and an Oxxo less than 100m from the house. Just past the Oxxo on 5th Avenue is a restaurant I really liked, Cafeteria Roco's, if I remember correctly. Playa del Carmen can be noisy and hectic in the city center, so I especially liked the northern part of town and the beaches beyond 72nd Street. The neighborhood is convenient, it’s quiet, and the owner is really nice. What more could you ask for 🤷‍♂️😁👍
