Che Playa Hostel & Bar

The staff and location were mostly great, and the common areas had a social feel. The rooftop was nice, though very small. Still, my five nights at Che Playa weren’t worth the hype. My room was dark and mouldy, nothing like the online photos. Being just below the rooftop meant I struggled to sleep most nights because of noise until around 2am. The kitchen cloths weren’t replaced daily and smelled of raw fish. The filtered water tasted wrong, and several things were taken from my shopping bag in the fridge. Guests weren’t given a weekly activity schedule. Instead, activities were posted in WhatsApp each day without notice, then cancelled when there weren’t enough people.

I liked meeting people here, especially other Argentinians, and the staff were friendly. The room was okay, the hostel was well located, and there was a good social atmosphere. The beds have no individual lights, which is inconvenient. At night the rooftop bar music was always so loud that sleeping was almost impossible. What bothered me most was the security: I’d never had anything stolen from a hostel fridge before, and that was really disappointing.

The rooftop is awesome for drinks and the pool, and Armando was great company and a big help during my stay. The hostel is in a perfect central spot and the rooms have good air conditioning. Bring ear plugs if you want to sleep before midnight. I can’t recommend it enough.

The pool is very nice, and I’d probably stay here again. Wristbands are handled with a good system, so you only have to pay when you leave. Staff were friendly, and the hostel was nice in general, though it was low season while I was there. The rooftop bar music was much too loud, so having a proper conversation was difficult. Also, I think the beds should have individual lights.
