I had to leave DK Exclusive for my safety and peace of mind. I was paying $2,200 USD for security and quiet, but felt treated like dirt, as if being Black meant I couldn't afford to live there legally. I repeatedly got sick from black mold. When they finally said they had dealt with it, they just patched and painted over it instead of scraping and treating it properly. There were also insects, noise all night, unresponsive maintenance, and a terrible administration team. I experienced racism, harassment, and bullying. When I withheld rent until the mold was properly fixed, they retaliated by having someone draft what I believe was a fake, illegal eviction notice to scare me out. Friends came to pick up food from me, and staff accused me of being a drug dealer and said, "Renting to Black people gives problems!" They came to my door without warning, banging at all hours, even though I repeatedly asked for privacy. They either lied about a “scary-looking” man supposedly coming to the building to look for me, or refused to help police by providing security footage of a real threat. They also demanded rent early every month. When I didn't comply, they took away my elevator privileges and stopped my deliveries from coming up. If you're thinking of staying here, be careful and talk to people who actually live there so you don't go through what I did.
