Fiesta Inn Playa del Carmen

Javier made a real difference throughout my stay. He was kind, professional, attentive to details, and always available to help. His dedication and willingness to assist elevated the whole experience, and he deserves recognition as a real asset to this hotel. The location is perfect, near lots of excellent small restaurants and just a short walk from 5th Avenue. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. I had a very pleasant stay.

There are plenty of restaurants and activities around the hotel, and the room was clean and nice, though somewhat small. I noticed I'd been charged for a Superior King room, but the bed was clearly a double. They said they would've changed it, but I was only staying one night. They were happy to comp breakfast, so I was pleased with that resolution. The staff were very nice and the service was great.

The location is definitely the main advantage, a block from 5th Ave and about three blocks from the beach. Noise wasn't much of an issue, apart from one night, even though our room faced 5th Ave. The room was restocked daily and housekeeping was consistently good. We stayed a week and it was okay. I never saw anyone eating at the on-site restaurant. The pool and rooftop bar area could've been kept up better, since towels and food left by previous guests sat around. We went to the bar to order pool food and drinks, which were not too bad.

We paid $48k MXN for a week, Dec 24-31, with a family of 5 in 2 rooms, and came away with the worst management experience we've had in over 20 countries of travel, from budget hostels to luxury resorts. For 6 out of 7 days, the showers were freezing and had almost no water pressure. With four girls in the family, it made the vacation miserable. We complained every day to managers on both shifts. They nodded and acted like they were listening, but nothing happened. It took two days of constant pressure to move us, and then the hot water failed in the new room too. After that, staff stopped engaging. There was no compensation or empathy. For the premium price, Fiesta Inn's “Business Class” label felt completely misleading. Rooms 306,308 & 311 were dated, with old, worn furniture and facilities. There were no fridges, and the sink was oddly in the middle of the bedroom rather than the bathroom.
