We found the trip very relaxing, with as much walking as we wanted and shuttles available when we preferred a ride. We’d highly recommend Grand Luxxe. We were there for a week in late October. It was warm, in the mid to upper 80s Fahrenheit, with thundershowers on almost every day. Our room’s A/C had a problem, but Armando and the maintenance team came right away to fix it. Gladis and Alondra from housekeeping kept everything spotless and well stocked. When our door had the “do not disturb” sign on it, they even left our turndown chocolates with the concierge for us to pick up. Our check-in concierge, Alexis, was well informed and answered our questions. Henderson, Elías, Victor, and Itan on the building’s concierge team helped arrange transportation around the resort and handled our requests. When they learned one of us had a birthday, they set up a celebratory “towel cake” and balloons, plus a complimentary dessert in our room. Edeney set up the coffee bar in our building entrance every morning, and even helped one of us get a ride to the main lobby very early before the regular staff arrived. Dayane and Josefina from customer care were also very helpful when we had questions. We loved the restaurants, though not all of them were open during shoulder season. We ate at Quinto, Tramonto, Gong, and The Grill at the Estates. The Grill was a bit tricky to reach, but our concierge arranged a ride with Josue. When he learned we were leaving the next day, he promised to make sure our departure went smoothly. He arrived for our luggage right on time, so we could enjoy a leisurely lunch before leaving the resort. The portions were generous, often enough to take for lunch the next day, and the service was excellent at all the restaurants. Poolside service was great too. Santos, Wilberth, and the pool team arranged another birthday celebration at the Grand Luxxe pool, with balloons and a birthday banner. On our last day, we had lunch at Burger Custom Made, where Francisco served us. The food and service were excellent again, and the vegan burger was delicious.

The Grand Luxxe is set in the jungle at Vidanta at Riviera Maya, and the rooms are nice. The kitchen pots and pans are too small for a family. Coffee is free on the first floor. Shuttles come by often, though walking is best. The pool is quiet and warmer than the Beach Club.

It was our first time at Vidanta, and we stayed five nights and four days in a two-bedroom residence. The room was spectacular, the service terrific, and the food excellent. It was a little quiet, maybe because of some last-minute, silly cancellations after what happened 10,000 miles away the week before, but it didn’t bother us. We loved the Beach Club, and the food at Salum was top notch. Getting around on foot was easier than we expected, though transportation is also a great option. We’d read about pushy timeshare sales and expected to deal with that on arrival, but it barely came up. We were invited to a breakfast tied to a timeshare sale at the end of check-in. We politely declined, and that was that. No one contacted us about it again.

Fatima, our concierge, was amazing. When my husband came down with a cold during the vacation, she went above and beyond to help get him medication. Everyone on staff was gracious and helpful, and the food was amazing. I definitely recommend Vidanta Grand Luxxe.
