Hotel Bosque Caribe , 5th Av Zone

The bed was rock hard, there were no blankets even though it was January, and they gave us just one set of towels for two people. The door lock got stuck and trapped us inside. We were on the ground floor, so we managed to crawl over the balcony, but I fell and made my ankle injury worse. Two employees hurried over, picked me up, unlocked the door, and let me back in. The place is really noisy, though I still sleep okay because our room is at the back, off 5th Avenue. I honestly can’t think of one redeeming thing about this hostel. A hotel sounds like it should have a bathroom in the room, while a hostel may not, but I once stayed in a Cairo hostel for $35 a week and had a private room with its own bathroom. Here, they charged me an extra $298 for a week to get a private bathroom.

There’s plenty happening nearby, right by famous 5th street. This end is a bit slower, but still busy. You can leave the hotel, walk up one side of 5th and come back along the other, and you’ve seen it.

Hotel Bosque Caribe was a nice little getaway for me. The staff were lovely, and the place was well looked after.

The rooms were clean and the location was great, but we had a terrible stay overall. Don’t try to change your booking while you’re there. Our room had an extra bed, yet the manager was very reluctant to let us add another person unless we paid a huge extra fee. They kept trying to raise the amount, then said it wasn’t allowed, even though their Airbnb listing clearly said it was. I’d also lock up your valuables in the safe. I’m almost certain my watch was taken from the room. We won’t be coming back.
