Hotel Myko Playa Del Carmen

My wife and I really appreciated how warmly the hotel staff treated us, and we enjoyed breakfast in the pretty garden by the pool. We spent a week vacationing in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, at this comfortable hotel in the heart of the city's hotel zone. Its location was excellent, one block from famous Fifth Avenue and two blocks from Mamitas beach. Our room had a living room, a small dining area, and a full kitchen with a microwave, electric stove, sink, and refrigerator with a cooler and freezer. The bedroom had two double beds, and there was a dressing room with a shower, sink with hair dryer, and toilet. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The staff were the worst part of this place. Whenever we came in, they were fooling around on their phones, and they didn't recommend excursions or suggest anything. On the day we arrived there was a private party that went on until the early hours and kept us awake. The next morning's breakfast was AWESOME, but they had nothing to offer because everything was still being set up after the party. They stole NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS from my room. My belongings had been rummaged through even though they weren't visible, and I couldn't get answers from anyone. I rushed to the front desk as soon as I noticed. Antonio didn't know what to do, then blamed us for not using the safe. He didn't call a manager or anyone above him, even though he knew who had cleaned the room. The afternoon man with glasses, whose name I don't know, was worse. He just repeated that I should've put my things in the safe. I told him I also had an iPad that DOESN'T FIT in there, and that if it went missing, they wouldn't take responsibility. He wouldn't talk to me. I had a terrible last three days with no money and no hotel charge. They didn't refund those days or even apologize. This was the worst place I've ever been, because of the staff, not the facilities. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! They are thieves.

We had a lovely room, spacious, well equipped, and beautifully decorated. Its location was great for us, close to the beach, and waking up to the sunrise was wonderful. Morning sun came through the bathroom window and warmed us up nicely. My daughter loved spending time with the children at the hotel, since they were small and saw each other often. We noticed the staff or facilities improving every day, and we'd definitely come back.

Breakfast was good, but took too long. The place is nice and it's a block from 5th Avenue and two blocks from the beach. It can be noisy with the bar downstairs and others along the street, though the music gets turned off at 2 a.m.
