La Quinta Caribeña

The people here have started to feel like friends. Fernando communicates wonderfully if you need anything, and Dario, who was on site, was an absolute angel and so helpful. They’re both so welcoming. On both visits, they arranged a driver, the amazing Javier and his crew, to take us to and from the airport. That wasn’t included in the hotel price, but the trip was easy and quick, and they’re excellent drivers. The peacocks were a beautiful bonus this time. My daughter and I stayed at La Quinta Caribeña for five nights last year and six nights this year, and we love it. It’s a quiet, clean, small hotel with simple rooms and bathrooms and an adorable pool, not a luxury resort. It’s away from the center of the action, which suits us. We rent bikes for the week and ride into town or to the beach at 88th street, a three-minute walk away. We come to PDC to relax on the beach and in the ocean. As Fernando put it, it’s our Caribbean home.

We really enjoyed our stay. Fernando was a lovely host, and the staff were kind and helpful. Playa 88 is nearby, and the two beautiful peacocks on the property made the place even more fun. One thing that could be better: a deeper clean between guests, with sheets and rooms cleaned more often.

We had five wonderful nights here, and it was our first visit to Playa del Carmen and Mexico. We’ll definitely be back. Our flight reached Cancun airport at night, and a friendly driver met us in a private shuttle for $1000 mxn, much less than a taxi. The hotel staff helped with our luggage, so we went straight from the plane to our room. There are two beach access points just a four-minute walk away, which was amazing. The hotel is also close to cafés and local restaurants. For downtown, you can rent bikes about a block and a half away. The staff know the city well and recommended delicious food for delivery, so just ask if you need anything. Thanks especially to Fernando and the whole team. The rooms were clean and orderly, and the pool area was a nice place to relax. A bonus was seeing the two gorgeous peacocks who live on the property. The staff were so welcoming, attentive, and helpful as we found our way around Playa del Carmen.
