La Rana Cansada

The cash total for my bill should have been $37, but they charged me $44. They don't take credit or debit cards and give you a much worse exchange rate. Also, they water down the alcohol a lot, maybe by 50%. The other reviews, including the ones that were deleted, are right.

The bar is pleasant and the beach is close, but there isn't much else to recommend it. Noise went on all night, so sleeping was impossible, and the rooms are small. Wi-Fi only worked at the bar, the toilets were hard to flush, and the staff didn't seem prepared for our arrival. Not worth the price.

If you want a fancy place, this isn't it. But for adventure seekers needing somewhere to crash, it's a great little motel, the best I've stayed in. I made friends with the bar Ranita staff and pretty much lived here. I caught fish and cooked ceviche and sushi for a week or two. The hammocks, books, and sweet Playa Del Carmen locs were lovely to have.

My wife and I spent five weeks at la Rana Cansada for our honeymoon, and had an unbelievably good stay. We have no complaints and would really love to return someday.
