The Wi-Fi was the worst part. It didn't work even though it was very important, and I'd already brought it up in a conversation. In the screenshots, they kept blaming my device, but nobody came to troubleshoot it in the unit. I missed an important meeting. When I arrived, the toilet wouldn't flush and we had to get a repair person to fix it. There was also a dirty bar of soap with hair on it in the shower. Aren't these basic things supposed to be handled before a guest arrives? Was there no thorough cleaning? They had a terrible attitude and couldn't take any feedback. Stay away.

The common areas were fantastic, with two pools and a great rooftop terrace full of loungers and tables. There was Wi-Fi there, too. My room was very tidy, and the kitchenette had a hob, microwave, plates, cutlery, and glasses. The downsides were no internet in the room and being some distance from the center of Playa del Carmen.

The 24/7 reception was a plus, and the neighborhood is close to the city center, though not right in it. Coming back alone late at night could feel a little unsafe. One night, guests played a movie at full volume from about 3:00 AM to 5:50 AM, so I couldn't sleep. I knocked, but nobody answered. Reception said they knew about the noise but couldn't do anything because the guests wouldn't open the door, so other guests were left unable to rest. The next morning, nobody apologized. They offered to move me, and I accepted, but the replacement was a downgrade to a ground-floor room with almost no natural light because there was a wall in front of the window. At check-in, they also asked to keep my passport, apparently because they couldn't make a copy. To get it back, I was asked to pay a fee, and nobody clearly explained the policy.

Reception staff were fantastic, always helpful and quick to sort out issues, and the location was excellent, just a 10-minute walk from 5th Avenue. I stayed a few nights. The room was okay but could use some improvement, and the ceiling fan made an annoying strange noise at high speed. Decent stay, with some room for improvement.
