Nayfer Suites

We had a negative impression of Nayfer Suites from start to finish. Arriving late at night was confusing: we had to enter through an office building, the instructions weren't clear, and several access codes didn't work. Once we finally got to the deluxe loft, the smoke detector beeped all night, echoing through the space. When we reported it, the response felt annoyed, and maintenance later accused us of smoking instead of recognizing that the batteries were dead. Then a misunderstanding about popcorn left in the room turned into an irate reaction over 20 pesos. It felt unnecessary, embarrassing and unprofessional, especially since constant code changes were already making it difficult to get back in. The room itself had potential, but the poor communication, faulty systems and rude handling of small issues made the stay uncomfortable and disorganized.

I've stayed in three different places in Playa, Del Carmen, and Nayfer Suites was easily the best. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, with lovely design details, and everything worked well. I especially liked the location: far enough from the noise in the centre but still close enough to walk. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby, plus a Dairy Queen next door. The staff I dealt with were extremely friendly and professional. I'll definitely come back next year!

The customer service was exceptionally poor. Around 11am before checkout, they called and messaged me incessantly, and were exceptionally rude. In my 20 years staying in pretty much every hotel in playa del Carmen, I've found them very relaxed about checkout and never rushing guests. They hurried me out, but there wasn't even a cleaner there to clean the room. I waited in the lobby until 1pm and didn't see anyone trying to clean it. They were just rude, and honestly have no business running hotels or airbnbs. The room was not cleaned properly and stank even though it was brand new. I had to keep the window open most of the time, but that didn't get rid of the smell. I also heard every movement from the neighbors as if we were roommates, whether they went in or out, talked or played music. And they tried to charge me to store my luggage while I went to get a meal. That has never happened to me at any hotel in playa del Carmen in twenty years, or anywhere else in the world. The location is quiet and in the middle of nowhere, but the experience was absolutely horrible.

I felt very relaxed at this cozy, safe hotel, almost like I was in a 5 star hotel. The rooms had absolutely everything new, which isn't typical for Mexico, and the kitchen was fully equipped. I liked being able to enter the hotel grounds myself without unnecessary looks from reception. It was a five-minute walk to the sea, where I could watch the sunrise, and it was right by my favorite 38th street and the big Soriana.
