We spent 4 nights here in February 2020. The quiet neighborhood, decent A/C, large mini fridge with a little freezer, and cute shared hangout area were the positives. The location on Google maps was false, and the place was much farther from everything than it looked, which really messed up our plans. The owner said he’d sent directions on What's App, but I don’t have that app. We’d already been in touch another way, so I don’t know why he didn’t contact me there instead. After I tried telling Orbitz about the incorrect map location, the owner sent me two angry messages and berated me in person. We felt unwelcome. We killed three cockroaches in the room on three separate occasions, including one in the bed. The shower curtain was moldy, the towels had rust stains, and soap bars were the only toiletries. The owner’s dogs woke us early three times, despite closed windows, A/C, and a white noise machine. When we tried to leave for the airport, the front gate to the street was stuck. Our key and other guests’ keys didn’t work, and nobody responded when I knocked on the owner's door, yelled, or called. We nearly missed our airport transfer, and there’s no other exit. It’s a safety hazard. The owner also said the neighborhood to the north wasn’t super safe. We travel a lot and don’t usually stay in nice hotels, and I’ve lived in Guatemala. I wasn’t expecting luxury, but the Nomad fell far below my expectations. You could pay much less and get better service, and much less hostility, at a local hostel.

I keep coming back to Nomad Deluxe, and the hosts are a big reason why. Animal lovers Tamas and Gabi are incredibly gracious and accommodating, making the place feel warm, safe, and inviting while you’re in playa del carmen. It’s on a quiet street, a short walk from the busy 5th avenue area with all its shops, restaurants, and bars, but far enough away that the noise doesn’t bother you. The accommodations are immaculate and there are lots of open, peaceful outdoor spaces. It feels like a nurturing place where you can just be yourself and grow spiritually if you choose. This is the ONLY place I choose to stay when I travel to Playa Del Carmen. Thanks for the love and acceptance. It TRULY feels like home away from home.

The hosts welcomed us like family and went out of their way to make sure we were happy and had what we needed. Management was kind and incredibly helpful, and check-in was easy. My suite was very clean, beautifully furnished, and had all the amenities I could want and more. The property’s common areas look stunning, with natural details and a trendy boho feel. There’s a relaxed spiritual vibe, and I felt very safe. I made several new friends while lounging by the pool in the garden. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe, with restaurants, the shopping district, and the beach just a few minutes away on foot. This was an amazing value. My biggest complaint is that I didn’t have enough time to stay longer. I travel a lot for work and sometimes get to settle down for a month or two in one place. Next time I get a repreave from work, I’m gonna stay here for a few months. Of the dozens of boutique hotels, air bnbs, hostels, and shared accommodations I’ve stayed in over the last year for work, this one tops my list for value, cleanliness, and amazing hosts. I’ll definitely be back to the nomad deluxe, hopefully for much longer next time!

It’s a warm hearted place to stay in Playa del Carmen, and you can walk to the beach. Host Tamas was so welcoming that I felt at home. Highly recommended.

We spent almost 2 weeks at Nomad Deluxe and had a really great time. Tamas is such a nice and helpfull host. The place is clean and lovely, with lots of plants. Thanks for having us. We’ll definitely be back to Nomad Deluxe!
