The Platinum suite was spacious and stylish, with a mini-Jacuzzi in the room and a balcony that felt like my own little retreat. Mornings there were peaceful, and evenings had a cinematic feel. As a solo Black female traveler, I felt safe and welcomed. The staff were genuinely warm from the moment I arrived, and the palm-lined paths and huge sparkling pools gave the place a relaxed, luxurious feel. Food was a highlight. The buffet and specialty spots all served flavorful, beautifully prepared meals, with a global range beyond Mexican food. I tried La Fleur, the French restaurant, Miso for Asian teppanyaki, La Fondue for Swiss, Grill Rodeo for steak, and Las Olas for seafood. It tasted like somebody’s abuela, tia, and a Michelin-star chef had teamed up. At night there were lively shows with dancers, music, costumes, and plenty of energy. It felt fun and classy, not like everyone was just sitting around with cocktails. This was a full luxury escape, and I’d absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, beauty, good food, and memorable moments.

The beaches were fantastic, with great views and wildlife. The staff were friendly too. I’ll definitely come again.

There’s a lot for the price: a large property with what feels like endless pools, a beautiful beach, attentive and well-trained staff, and a great food selection. A few things let it down. The adult entertainment was sparse, the evening shows felt amateur, and entertainment wraps up by 11 pm. Shops on site charge extremely high prices, like US$12.00 for a package of Skittles. The Italian restaurant food was poor. Platinum club didn’t offer much value: no butler, only 3 sodas and no food in the minibar, and room service “demand” tips. Shuttle service was inadequate and often late, especially at night. Maintenance didn’t seem regular or sufficient, there weren’t enough beach seats, and room Wi-Fi was weak and inconsistent. It’s technically free, but reasonable Wi-Fi costs extra.

We paid Riviera pricing and booked Riviera platinum rooms, but the hotel moved 8 of our 11 rooms over to the Sunset platinum side. Our group of 23 ended up split, which made it harder to coordinate where to meet. Food was okay, and the Platinum beach area had cushioned chairs and bar service. It’s a large all-inclusive, so be ready for a lot of walking. We won’t be coming back.

The strike has made this stay miserable. Bars, some restaurants, cleaning services, and activities are closed, the pool isn’t maintained, and staff have been rude. Some areas have had their lights turned off too. People were turned away from the 24-hour food service without warning. I work nights and am only awake then, so being cut off from food is where I draw the line. I can’t even order food from outside because staff told me they won’t let deliveries in. I’m a guest, and I don’t understand why I’m being treated this way. They’ve cut off the food and are leaving us hungry. The Mexican government needs to know, and I’ll complain to them. Legal action should be taken against the employees, not the hotel. It was disappointing even before the strike. Platinum gave me nothing, and its features have been reduced anyway. Staff openly try to overcharge guests, and the situation feels too unstable for visitors. I hope the hotel fires them all and hires new staff, and that the government gets involved because this is ruining tourism in the country. I really don’t think I’ll return. I won’t tip Mexican hotel staff again as long as I live, and I’ll always blame the staff, not the hotel. I hope they all lose their jobs. Platinum is garbage. Now where do I go, Jamaica?
