Hotel Plaza Playa

The rooms are a typical size, and there’s plenty of parking. It’s also within a five-minute walk of downtown. A decent place if views aren’t important to you. Just note that they don’t provide a hair dryer, so bring your own if you’ll need one.

We’ve come back several times because the people are so nice. The rooms are always clean, and they greet us with a smile. Being close to 5th Ave is the best part.

We checked out at 3 a.m. after my boyfriend woke me because he felt something crawling on him. When I switched on the light, the room was full of ants. We’d checked in around 10 p.m. and gone straight to sleep, so we hadn’t noticed them before. I showed the receptionist photos and asked to speak with the manager. She said there wasn’t a manager at the hotel then, no other rooms were available, and all they could do was clean the room. She only said sorry. She also asked me to lower my voice so other guests wouldn’t hear, and came across as rude and unconcerned. When I asked for a refund so we could stay somewhere else, she took my phone number and said the manager would call. It’s been three days and I’ve heard nothing, and there’s been no refund. How can they rent out a room full of ants and do so little for a guest?

There are several affordable restaurants within a five-minute walk, and the hotel is reasonably close to the Quinta and the beach. Wi-Fi worked perfectly in the lobby but came and went in my room. The shower water was either cold or hot, with no way to get it warm.
