Royal Hideaway Playacar All Inclusive - Adults only

We loved the clean, comfortable room and its balcony overlooking the ocean and pool. The food was excellent at the restaurants, though Spices and Ventanas were our least favorite. At Ventanas, even our waiter noticed the food was overdone and apologized. We skipped the shows by choice, but enjoyed the later entertainment at the cozy bar under the main building. This is a relaxed adults-only resort with an older crowd, not a party place. The beach was lovely, with warm, clear water and room to walk for miles. Seaweed can be an issue, but the cleanup crew worked hard to clear it. Getting a pool chair may take an early start; the beach usually has plenty, with the same waiter service and options for sun or shade. We'd read some negative reviews and worried a little, but had a wonderful vacation. The resort is beautiful and laid back. Yessica and Carlos at the grill were welcoming and cheerful each of the three times Yessica served us. Felix and Arturo explained things and showed us around at check-in and checkout. Eduardo was prompt by the pool, Candy kept our room stocked with fresh towels and extra coffee pods, and our concierge Ricki was always available, even walking around the pool to check that all was well. All the bartenders and servers worked hard to make the vacation enjoyable. We also loved sweet Lucy, the gentle, friendly stray who visits the beach now and then. She doesn't beg, so give her a pat, some water, and perhaps a bit of breakfast bacon. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks for a great stay!

The staff made a real difference for us. Everyone we met was kind, attentive, and glad to help, with special thanks to Mariana and Amos for their professionalism, care, and attention to detail. We also loved the beach, with its soft sand, clear water, and plenty of room. The pool was spotless and well kept, with a good balance of lively and relaxing spots. Food was a highlight too: every restaurant we tried served fresh, flavorful dishes, and the buffet was high quality. There were so many choices we never got tired of it. Everything was better than we expected, and we can't wait to return. Five stars.

The week flew by, and we were sorry to leave. We’ve been coming to The Royal Hideaway with friends for over 20 years, and the beach location, well-kept grounds, lovely landscaping, and lush plants are still a big part of its appeal. We stayed in Villa 24 this time. Sucel Sanchez, our concierge, introduced herself on the first day, arranged our dinner bookings, and was attentive with our requests. Dinner at Azia, Palazzo, and Ventanas was especially enjoyable. The food, presentation, and service were wonderful as always, and we liked this year's varied nightly entertainment and music. Breakfast and lunch at the Patio and Spices were good too, and we especially enjoyed Rudy and Lidia. Pool and beach waiters were wonderful, and the front valets always welcome us like old friends and help with luggage and taxi requests. At the pool, the animation team kept us entertained with activities. Mariana, Roberto, and Amos were friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. One thing that felt less good than in past years was the Patio concierge service. It wasn't as efficient, and the hostesses seemed less enthusiastic. We know it's a busy job with people asking them questions all the time, though even a smile helps. See you next year! The 3 Amigas, Nancy, Joanne and Nina.

We hardly had to leave the resort, except for one excursion, and the man at the excursion desk was really helpful. There was plenty to do on site, and the activities were great. Everything was clean, the food was good, and the service was outstanding. My family and I had the best time and didn't run into a single problem. A few staff members deserve a mention. Guadeloupe at the spa gave what may be the best massage ever. Carlos Quintal and Godoy at the Grill and Oliviero at Spices were probably our best servers. Dayna and Gabriella, our concierge, both took the time to introduce themselves and check in. Alexa at the fun club taught us fun crafts and was such a friendly face. If you're unsure about staying here, I’d recommend it 10000%. It’s a relaxing resort, and I hope to be back soon.
