Fiesta Inn Express Puebla Explanada

The location at the mall is perfect for family activities, and our boys can spend hours in the indoor pool. We adults really appreciate the comfortable beds and cozy bedding, and the free breakfast is always a hit. The one thing we wish the room had is a mini fridge. We always love staying at the Fiesta Inn, especially Fiesta Inn Express Puebla Explanada. We’ve come every year, and each stay has gotten better. It’s the small touches that stand out, like all the live green plants in the hallways and dining room, the playground beside the dining room, the friendly service, and the lovely breakfast.

At check-in, I was told I’d reserved a handicapped room, even though I’d booked a regular room and hadn’t asked for anything special. I didn’t mind getting that room because my rate was very cheap, but they shouldn’t have told me it was what I reserved. They also said breakfast ran from 6 to 10 a.m., with no breakfast after 10 and room service available instead. So imagine my surprise when I showed up at 6 a.m. and nothing was ready. The person at reception apologized and said breakfast would be served at 7 that day. If the staff are late, that shouldn’t be my problem, but I had to leave without breakfast. They signed me up for the Fiesta Rewards loyalty program without asking. I didn’t want to join, but they didn’t care. The staff’s opinion seems to rule at this hotel.

The included breakfast was great, with lots of fresh fruit, coffee, and an omelet chef. The front desk staff are polite and usually speak enough English to handle an interaction. There’s also a small shop at reception with snacks and personal items, and the hotel is connected to a shopping mall with a grocery store for easy access. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. My only complaints are the shower, which has a large ceiling-mounted spout that always gets your hair wet, and the lack of a refrigerator.

Breakfast was included for us, otherwise it costs 200 pesos. There was plenty of it, but the quality wasn’t good, and cleanliness was the biggest issue. The hotel is above the mall, and everything looks new. Check-in was quick and very friendly, with a German-speaking lady. Our room on the fourth floor was great apart from the washbasin being right in the room. The tap is much too short and barely reaches over the sink, so it quickly floods.
