Holiday Inn Puebla Finsa by IHG

Even though the hotel is right by a busy motorway, my room was so well insulated I could barely hear traffic. It was a quiet stay on the busy Federal Highway running through northern Puebla. I booked a king room on the top floor. It was very spacious, decent, solid, and comfortable. The bathroom was roomy but looked a little dated and could use a remodel. The waterfall shower was lovely after a day out, and there were two small water bottles in the room. Check-in was friendly, if a bit slow. Checkout also took a while even though I'd paid the night before, but the service was still nice and friendly. The breakfast I'd paid for through the hotel booking was excellent, with a buffet and an omelette bar. This Holiday Inn is a solid hotel, with ample rooms and a great breakfast.

We had a storage box on top of our vehicle, so it was too tall for the underground secure parking entrance. The hotel let us park right out front, between the road and the lobby entrance, in one of about three spaces. The watchman put a chain behind our car. The rooms felt so spacious I could've been living in an apartment. I booked a volcano-view room, but I'd only recommend doing that if the sky is clear when you arrive. Otherwise the view is mostly fog and distance. The windows are wide and don't block the city views. Getting there and leaving the next day was easy since the hotel is right off a main highway. The staff were very friendly and helpful. After hours of driving, my husband really appreciated the large round granite-walled shower with its rain shower. My kids always enjoy hotel breakfasts, and this one had a fantastic assortment, including multicolored Jell-O that made them happy.

Breakfast was OK, and the staff were nice and did a good job. That's why I'm giving it two stars, but I won't book my company's stays here again. The reservations are always wrong, and it happened again with three bookings from my company. We booked three bedrooms with king beds and mountain views, but got two queen beds in each room and no mountain view. Two reservations showed up in their system without a room actually booked. It's the same story every time. If you expect to get what you booked, I strongly recommend staying at another nearby hotel.
