Sonoran Sea Resort

Two stars for Sonoran Sea Resort. Check-in went smoothly and the first day was nice, but after that the rules felt relentless. They are VERY strict, which can be good or bad, and security kept checking that we followed every detail. With a trailer and RZR, you have to use their designated area and unhitch the trailer. Bracelets have to stay on, and they made us leave the pool or beach to get a new one even though they had seen us there for days. We understood that part. The last day was what really disappointed us. We checked out of our Airbnb 30 minutes early and left it in great shape, then went into town for gas, food, and shopping before we had to hook up the trailer and take it through town. When we returned at 11:40, security nearly wouldn't let us in, even though our trailer and RZR were still there and they knew we'd stayed three nights. We were allowed in, used the public resort bathroom, then decided to put our feet in the sand one last time before driving back to AZ. Security stopped us as we walked and said we had to leave the property. Checkout was at 11, and it was 11:55. We hadn't known we had to leave immediately, and nobody had mentioned that at check-in when we got the wristbands. We only wanted another 20-30 minutes on the beach, weren't drinking, and were met with a very rude “No, you need to leave,” as if we were trespassing. I understand rules and policies, and let the other things go, but this felt wrong. The Airbnb was great, but the resort staff and security made the stay unenjoyable and ruined the customer service experience. It's a nicer resort, which makes this more disappointing. We won't be back.

We stayed in E1006, on the east side, where the shade made it easy to enjoy the balcony. The beach is easy to reach and the views were incredible. Staff were friendly, and security was phenomenal: my son left the sliding door of the van open, and they found us by the pool and called within about 15 minutes. The pool, hot tubs, and facilities were always clean. They do enforce the rules, which makes sense: no towels drying on railings, though you can hang them on patio furniture; no smoking; and no kids in the adult hot tubs. I'd highly recommend the place.

We always have a good time at Sonoran Sea. The restaurant serves good food, the pool bar is great, and everyone we've met there has been enjoyable company.

Everything at the hotel was magnificent, and it's a very good place. The one thing that stood out was the hotel's position that if a guest dies from electrocution in the Jacuzzi, it's the guest's fault and the hotel isn't responsible.
