Hotel Azteca

I couldn't get into the hotel after midnight. There was a guy sleeping by the door, but I couldn't wake him, so I had to find another room elsewhere for the night. I checked out the next day after zero nights, despite having paid in advance. The woman at the front desk was angry, and the room was crap. A horrible experience.

The location is good, but the guest policy felt really strange. My taxi driver was helping me carry my things and they got very upset about him coming to my room. Instead of just letting him help with the bags, they made a big scene.

The rooftop is nice, and the hotel might work if your budget is extremely tight, but I'd spend a little more for somewhere better. There was no soap, and they required a deposit for towels that had stains. The toilet bowl had a ring, and the water pitcher had a hole.

It's right amid the action, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and clubs, with buses available to get around and the beach only a few short blocks away. The rooms are basic, but clean and quiet. There's no A/C, just fans. Unless you need a Sheraton or Marriott, this is where you'd want to be.
