Hotel Mio Vallarta - Adults Only

My birthday is March 10, and I may end up spending it trying to sort out this reservation instead of enjoying the day. I’m not asking for an upgrade or a refund. I just want the room that was shown when I booked and that I paid for. The reservation photos showed a particular view, including two pictures of the same view. Once I arrived, I was told my room would look onto skyscrapers and an old, abandoned pool in a neighboring building. Staff said Booking manages the photos on its listing, but the same images appear on the hotel’s official website too, so I’m confused about that explanation. Booking support told me to check in, then call them again about the problem. That means spending more of my trip trying to resolve it, with the risk of having nowhere to stay for two nights. From a guest’s point of view, this feels misleading and unfair. I hope the photos and room descriptions are clarified so future guests know what they’re booking.

Because of the safety situation in PV in late February 2026, I couldn’t get to the city and had to change my plans, even though I had a stay booked. Other hotels and airlines were incredibly understanding, but this property wouldn’t help me, and I lost hundreds of dollars. The hotel itself might be fine in normal circumstances, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here after this. I hope things improve in PV for everyone there. I’ll return to the area, just not to this hotel.

The room layout has one big drawback: the shower and sink are outside the bathroom, with no separation from the rest of the room. There’s also a rooftop party sort of thing every day from 5-11pm. Still, I had a great stay. The rooms are beautiful, the terraces have great views, and the rooftop area and pool are lovely. Customer service was excellent, and breakfast was plentiful. It’s a great hotel.

There are plenty of good restaurants an easy walk away, and it’s lovely to stroll beside the Pitillal river. The tree-lined path gives you a break from the hot sun. The hotel is on a main road, but you can get to the beach through the adjacent hotel. Rooms are clean, spacious, and modestly priced, with plenty of cupboard space. The shower was heavenly. There’s a top-floor pool with food and drinks, and breakfast is a typical buffet with a better-than-average choice of fruit, meat, eggs, and more.
