Tradicional Villa Del Mar

We chose a room with a balcony and had a pleasant stay. It's a great option if you want to be near the beach and enjoy downtown, and the staff were very courteous and attentive. We'd definitely recommend it and come back.

There was a colorful, lively feel to the hotel, with plants and art all around that made it warm. The property was okay overall, and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed something. We didn't ask for much service, but everyone we dealt with was genuinely nice. I walked in at the last minute and paid around 3,200 MXN for two nights. I hadn't researched prices, so I'm not sure whether that's high, but I'm sharing it in case it helps someone.

We enjoy staying in this very old building, which has been retrofitted to make guests comfortable. There are a few quirks, but we find them charming. It's very clean and comfortable, and we'll stay here again.

Traffic noise was extreme, and the whole place felt old and rundown. The room was just a square with a hard bed and hard pillow, barely more than the basics, almost like a jail cell. There was no hot water at the bathroom sink and no hand towel. The plants were dead, the furniture was beat up, and there was junk all over the lobby. I arrived around 7 pm and had to carry my luggage up the stairs myself. There was no customer service. At $75 Canadian for one night, it felt like a huge rip-off, more like a $30 room. Maybe that price is standard for an American, but it was overpriced for a Canadian. If they painted and renovated the rooms, perhaps the charge would make sense. Anyone with a mold allergy should avoid it; the place is infested with mold, and today I have a very sore throat. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're desperate or stuck needing somewhere for one night.
