Bungalows Los Flamingos

For a week, this place worked out fine for my family, even though it was far from top of the line. We liked being near both Guayabitos and La Peñita, and the owners cleaned the cramped room pretty well. The beds were hard and the bathroom wasn't great. The card reader was broken, so we had to get cash from an ATM and pay a high fee. Still, I think the family running the place is doing their best to make a living. My stay wasn't as bad as some reviews made it sound, but it wasn't great either.

The neighborhood was quiet and the beach was easy to reach, but after a dispute about towels, we decided to leave. The owner's wife told us to take the room towels to the beach and swap them at the desk afterward. When we came back, her husband yelled at us in front of other guests and gave us just one clean towel. There was no maid service, so I had to make my own bed, and the room had no hand towels or bath mat. It also had no spa or restaurant, and parking was only on the street. We had booked three nights in a room with a king bed, but got two doubles instead. The owner's son was pleasant, though the owner wasn't. The sheets were dirty, the pillows hard, and the bottom sheet was being used as a dust ruffle. The sink was stained and looked like something from a mechanic's shop. The lock was loose enough that someone could push the door open with a little force, and the curtains were falling apart, perhaps from sun damage. The electrical outlet shorted out the room's power, and the wiring ran in all directions and didn't seem safe. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We left early and booked somewhere else because we couldn't even take a shower. The outlets and wiring didn't seem up to code. I couldn't plug in my laptop, and anything beyond a phone charger tripped the AC, fan, and bathroom light. We took photos of the problems, including blood on the pillows, furniture coming apart, the bathroom sink, and the electrical overload. We booked through Expedia expecting a queen bed, but got two full beds. Usually I don't complain, but this wasn't what we expected. Most of the staff weren't friendly, apart from one person. I wouldn't recommend this place, and I'll let Expedia know it doesn't match what their site shows.

The Wi-Fi was terrible, and what happened with the manager, Cesar, made our one-night stay a nightmare. I believe he was trying to extort my family and me. They threatened me personally and told my family they would kill me unless money was deposited into their account. Thankfully, I got out safely without giving them any money. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
