Hotel Pueblito Inn

We were getting ready for a church event, so I asked the front desk for an iron. A young woman replied carelessly, “We don’t have any of that,” without even apologizing. At every other hotel we’ve stayed at, there’s been an iron in the room or they could provide one when asked. For the price we paid per night, about what I’d pay in the USA, I expected the room to have everything. I could understand an iron not being available at a 400-peso motel, but that wasn’t the case here. That’s why I gave them two stars.

The place was quiet overall, and the parking felt safe. Our car was right outside the room, though you can only get into the parking lot through the main entrance and access wasn’t easy. We had a clean two-bed room for one night, and it smelled good for a non-smoking room. The pool water was cold when we went to use it in the morning, even though the hotel had advertised that it was heated. We’d called before booking and were told it worked, but staff then said it wasn’t working. The shower was lukewarm at first. When I called reception, they said they needed to switch on the water heater and asked us to wait ten minutes. After that, the water came out warm enough. My daughters didn’t want to shower while it was lukewarm.

The daily cleaning lady was wonderful and always smiling. The motel itself is basic, with every door opening outside, and the pool was okay. The restaurant and bar were closed, but there were two great places across the street and an amazing seafood stand about 50 meters away. I’d stay again for Baja Beach fest, though otherwise I’d choose somewhere a little more updated and secure.

I was nervous about where to stay on my first trip to rosarito and whether it would be safe. This place turned out nice, cute, clean, and relaxing, and I didn’t have many problems. The rooms were spacious, the AC worked perfectly, and the beds were comfortable. There are lots of stores nearby, which I liked. Parking was a pain, but a security guard helped us out. It’s some distance from the clubs and bars, like papas and beers, though taxis are available and getting around is manageable. I’d stay here again.
