Hotel Posada Terranova

The front desk people were really nice, but overall this was one of my worst stays and I wouldn't return even for free. It may be relatively cheap, and the art district is only a few blocks away, but there isn't much else around. The room door lock barely stayed in place. We had to run the shower for 15-20 minutes to get warm water, never hot, during our four days, and the sink only had cold water. One evening, after the restaurant had closed after lunch, a very "tough" security guard, Ruben, wouldn't let us take a spoon from the kitchen to our room because he thought we'd steal it. I offered to leave the front desk a cash deposit for two spoons, but they apologized and said "security" wouldn't allow it.

This is a review of the hotel only, not the restaurant. The location gets four stars, since it's very close to downtown, though the streets are dusty and cars send clouds of dust flying. We only stayed one night as a last-minute extension, and the service wasn't that great. I'd spend extra for a nicer hotel. The savings aren't worth it. The neighbor's dog barked every hour through the night, just as I had read, and I got maybe four hours of broken sleep. It was the worst sleep I've had. The bed was sunken on the left and very uncomfortable and lumpy. There were roaches crawling up from the bathroom sink and scurrying into holes when the light came on. I've never left a one-star review for a hotel before, but this was bad enough that I had to report it. Hopefully they fix the bugs and the leaky toilet and shower. The bathroom floor was constantly wet.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and there's a restaurant in the hotel. Reception was very good. It's centrally located and convenient for getting around.

The best part is how central it is, everything is very walkable, and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are basic and aren't soundproof, so the neighborhood can get loud. The shower and sink leaked, and Wi-Fi only worked in some areas, not in the room. The restaurant out front looks cute.
