The staff at Viceroy Los Cabos were consistently friendly and attentive, and the property is beautiful. But booking and management problems overshadowed what should have been a great stay. We booked by phone after having trouble with the website, but didn’t get the advertised “Book 3 Nights, Get the 4th Night Free” promotion. Instead, an AAA discount was applied without a clear explanation or documentation. We were told it couldn’t be changed, even though we wouldn’t knowingly have picked a smaller discount over a free night. Nobody provided a comparison or clear account of the options. The suite also lacked the kitchen or kitchenette shown in the online photos and descriptions. We gave management plenty of time to sort things out and offered to add several nights, with more spending on rooms, dining, and spa services. Rooms were available, but resolving the issue took most of the day and involved several people. The result was only minimal concessions that didn’t reasonably address what happened. By the time a better offer came, we were too frustrated and chose to stay elsewhere. Frontline service was good, but management and customer service behind the scenes failed. Clearer communication and quicker decisions could have made this an easy, positive fix. We also ate at Flora Farms, a 5/5 experience and much better than the rooftop at Viceroy. For airport transport, we used “Private SUV RoundTrip from Airport to Hotels in San Jose del Cabo,” which was 5/5. Whale watching on “Luxury Catamaran Whale Watching Cabo San Lucas” was also 5/5. We’d much rather leave positive comments, and usually try to work through problems, but the Viceroy was one of the worst experiences I’ve had.

The spa and gym were highlights for us. Check the spa desk for deals, sometimes there’s $30 off a treatment or a free 20-minute add-on like reflexology or a facial. The therapists are excellent. Nancy gave me the best deep tissue massage I’ve ever had. The gym was clean, never crowded even in the busy morning hours, and had plenty of equipment plus free group classes. We’ve stayed at Viceroy Los Cabos twice for our anniversary, and the second weeklong trip was even more memorable than the first. The architecture by Spanish architect Miguel Angel Aragonés feels cinematic, with clean lines, thoughtful connections between the buildings, and saltwater pools that make the place feel like an artwork. Everywhere you turn there’s a lovely scene. We’ve tried different room layouts, but always choose a full ocean view. Nothing beats the big balcony and watching whales jump nearby. Our favorites are the junior suite with plunge pool and the 1BR. Towers 4 and 6 are quieter. The staff’s level of care stood out throughout the resort. Our butler, Alexis, was proactive, engaged, and always smiling. When a problem with our room meant we had to move, he quickly offered solutions and advocated for a room we’d be happy with. I left some clothes and jewelry behind during the switch, and he personally picked them up and brought them to our new room. His kindness and passion for the work really show. We also had several nice interactions with bellhop Antonio, who was gracious with our luggage and questions about the property. We love how consistent the food is, and the service from everyone, including bellhops, restaurant staff, butlers, and spa staff. Prices are at resort levels, so expect $25 cocktails and entrees over $30. That’s common at 4- to 5-star hotels in Cabo San Jose and San Lucas unless you’re at an all-inclusive. The food is excellent even by resort standards. We ate at Casero for casual meals, Nido for Japanese-style sushi, grilled seafood, and steak, and Cielomar for its rooftop views, live music, and woodfire specialties. Several markets are within a 10-minute walk, useful for room snacks or toiletries you forgot. Across the street, La Manzanita is a small stand with fresh juices, smoothies, and burritos that we really enjoyed. The area felt very safe. It’s not perfect: a few rooms could use more attention to detail, and I wonder if a remodel is planned. Bottled water is plentiful, while slippers are available by request. We always look forward to coming back. Thanks to everyone working hard at the beautiful Viceroy Los Cabos.

The property was clean, relaxing, and accommodating, with good food on site. You can walk to a store and a few nice places to eat, and it’s under a 10-minute Uber ride into town. Our hosts, Laura and Oscar, gave us delicious local taco and restaurant suggestions and helped us find things to do. They also translated for us with a local art vendor when we bought a piece. We were at Viceroy for our Babymoon, and it was one of our best vacations. From check-in through checkout, the staff made us feel welcome and special. Laura and Oscar were wonderful, checking on us morning, noon, and night to see if we needed anything. They helped with reservations, local food recommendations, and activities around town.

We found the all-inclusive meal plan worth it. Most food and drinks at the restaurants and bars were covered, aside from premium liquor and wine by the bottle. The menus clearly showed what was included, and most things were. Even though we ate in town most nights, the plan still made sense for us. We had a great stay in mid-February and would highly recommend the resort. The beach and pool area was excellent, with great restaurants and service on the property. The beaches aren’t swimmable, but they’re nice to walk along, and we didn’t miss getting in the ocean. The area is more laid-back than Cabo San Lucas, with a safe, walkable downtown and some great restaurants if you want to head out. Ignacio at Nidito Beach took great care of us and had lots of good suggestions. Misael from Cielomar was another favorite.

Our personal concierges, Alexis and Israel, made the trip feel perfect. They booked meals, spa appointments, transport, and excursions, anticipated what we might need, and had great recommendations. Oscar and Jesus at Nidito took wonderful care of us during our beach time. We felt we’d made new friends and hope to come back soon. This is easily the best beach resort we’ve visited. We spent four nights here recently. The hotel has spacious rooms, well-kept grounds, gorgeous pools, a relaxing spa, and plenty of restaurants. Every meal we had was spectacular, and we loved Nido’s distinctive architecture. The facilities were impressive, but the attentive, friendly, helpful staff were the best part.
