Casa Doper Relox

The room at Casa Doper Relox was basic, just a bed and bathroom, but comfortable enough for sleeping and showering after a day exploring San Miguel. The location is the real draw, close to everything and good value for money. Ester, who welcomed us and cleaned, was attentive and very friendly. We tried several times to reach them on WhatsApp, which was supposed to be answered 24 hours before arrival, but got no reply, even though reception confirmed we had the right number.

The only reason I’m giving four stars is the lack of parking. I struggled with this because nearby garages charge incredibly high rates by the hour or by the bed, and street parking near the hotel is scarce. There are designated spaces, but finding one is difficult. Everything else made for a comfortable stay. Our room was just right for two, with clean, super-comfortable blankets, air conditioning, and consistently hot shower water. The bathrooms were spotless, with no limescale on the shower or walls. We loved the smart locks, since we didn’t have to worry about someone being in the hotel when we got in late. The staff were beyond excellent, cleaned daily, and I felt comfortable leaving my belongings in the room based on past hotel experiences. Wi-Fi reached our room well too.

We couldn't sleep at all because the bed was hard, lumpy, and uncomfortable, and it ruined our day. This was in November 2024, when the place was very hot but the shower water was cold. A suitcase wheel cracked as it rolled over the cobblestones, and the manager helped us with it. Then he put the suitcase on a piece of furniture and said we owed him $850 pesos for a broken glass panel. Nobody saw the suitcase hit it, and no one heard it break or fall. It looked like a display case. I paid in the end because we’d just arrived and I only wanted to rest.

The rooms are high quality and the beds are really comfortable. Service and location are excellent too. Thanks very much for taking care of us. This is my first choice for our next visit to San Miguel, and we give the place five stars.
