Hotel Casa 88

The rooms are pretty and the location is great. We stayed in the room by the hotel entrance, and it was noisy at night, with sounds from people inside and outside the hotel and from the neighborhood bars and clubs. Bring earplugs. Wi-Fi didn’t reach our room and was down across most of the hotel for much of the stay. Staff said Wi-Fi isn’t included in the hotel listing, so it shouldn’t be expected. The staff don’t speak English at all.

Eduardo, Jesus, and Isabel made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble, including helping me with my Spanish, and we got big hugs when we said goodbye. Casa 88 is in a great central spot in San Miguel. It can be a bit noisy, which we expected in a busy town, and the hotel provides earplugs. I wondered why when we arrived, but understood at bedtime. The only downside was Nomada, the breakfast place whose vouchers we received. The food was cold both days, and one day the supposedly hot cakes were stone cold with frozen berries on top. They didn’t seem to care, which was odd given Nomada’s great reviews on Google. On our last day we got vouchers for a cafe around the corner, and it was superb. I can’t give the Casa 88 team less than five stars. Cheers, guys!

The rooms are excellent and there’s a nice terrace, so it’s a good hotel, but service was erratic. We couldn’t get internet in our room, a couple of lightbulbs stayed out and were never fixed, and the valet left a light on in our car until the battery ran down. Most of our stay the staff were very helpful, which made the problems a shame.

A cute little place right in the middle of town. The six rooms are absolutely beautiful, and the owner is around to look after you. You can cook your own food in the rooftop kitchen and keep things in the fridge. Well done 👍👍
