Hotel Madi

The hotel looked nice and the decor was good, but I left very unhappy about the charges. I booked two rooms and paid almost twice as much for one because it was supposedly deluxe. They were identical except that the more expensive one had a small sofa bed. Both rooms had two guests, and staff said the price difference was down to room category and couldn’t exchange them. I’d asked in advance for two separate beds in one room. They arranged that but charged an extra £80. I asked them to waive it because I was already overpaying by hundreds of GBP for the other room, but they refused. The bedrooms are small with no windows, while the bathrooms are large and smart. The shower pressure is extremely low, but the beds are decent and comfortable, and the AC works well. There’s a nice rooftop pool area, with a small pool and a bar overlooking the road. Breakfast was included: the black coffee was decent, and the basic breakfast was adequate. It’s a fantastic location, with everything walkable. There’s no street parking, but they offer offsite parking for around £12 GBP per night. Only two staff members speak English, which is somewhat expected in this area. If they’d refunded some of the second room’s cost or waived the other room’s upgrade fee, I’d have been much more satisfied. They did nothing for me. The extra £480 I paid for four days is hard to understand when all I got for it was a sofa bed in one bedroom. I’ll take this up with Booking dot com when I’m back in the UK.
