The rooftop terraces are massive, with beach loungers, and the staff were great. I found the hostel very clean, family friendly, and the mattress and pillow were both great. Each dorm bed has plenty of conveniences to make it comfortable and secure. The upstairs showers don’t get cool fresh air coming in, though the shower spaces are otherwise good. A sign says they’ll make a paid breakfast if you ask, but they provide a light breakfast for free. There’s a child table and high chair too.

The beds are comfortable, the showers are good, and everything is super clean. The kitchen is well equipped too, so it’s a good value hostel/hotel.

We ended up leaving the hostel because we didn’t feel safe or at ease there. We’d noticed some unclear, worrying signs and asked what was going on, but the answer was vague and didn’t seem realistic. It also made the situation more disruptive, without clearing anything up. I strongly advise people to stay away. This hotel shouldn’t be allowed to host guests.

The friendly front desk staff, good cleaning service, and location were the bright spots. Otherwise, there wasn’t much atmosphere, and the showers were freezing cold. The breakfast part of the name is misleading: at La Catrina Hostel and Breakfast, it was basically coffee and sad white Bimbo toast. I saw some people get fruit, but nobody offered any to me. There are lots of great cafes nearby, but then breakfast shouldn’t be in the hostel’s name.
