Villa Segovia Cozumel

Far enough from the tourist bustle to be quiet, and the place was safe and spotless. My room was huge, with coffee and a fridge, plus bottled water in a cooler. The patio looked over the pool, and breakfast was fabulous. Service was above par. Security even let me know I'd left the lights on in my rental car parked out front. The central market is a 15-minute walk away.

The rooms are very spacious, and the hotel has a lovely garden, nice decor, friendly employees, and a great breakfast. Just know the central square is a good 30-minute walk. That didn't bother us since we rented bikes and were fine walking. A taxi to the ferry port costs around 70-80 pesos.

The pool was beautiful, and we especially liked the animals, including the cat and the 🦜🐦. All in all, it was a lovely place with huge rooms. Our room wasn't equipped as advertised at first, but they sorted everything out when we asked. Breakfast choices were quite limited for vegans, though the ladies were very happy to help us. We would've liked a receptionist or staff member at the villa, since we only saw them when it was time to pay or leave.

I've traveled extensively and visited many islands, but my three weeks at Villa Segovia, two in January and one at the end of February, though that last week felt too short, were among my best experiences. It felt warm, inclusive, positive, and safe in a way I hadn't experienced elsewhere. There was a little language gap with staff, but using translation apps on our phones became part of the travel and learning experience. I think the staff appreciated our effort, and they were friendly and very efficient. Breakfast was amazing. We walked downtown each afternoon for sunset and dinner, and the walk home never made us worry at all. You can't go wrong staying there! Jacquie
